Childress gives Jackson starting nod

By | Posted Tuesday, August 28

Not like the Minnesota Vikings had much of a choice, but head coach Brad Childress named quarterback Tarvaris Jackson to the starting job on Monday after practice. The quarterback received the news with little surprise, and went about his business like normal. So far this preseason, it has seemed like Jackson could get the job done at the position this season. He hasn't thrown a touchdown yet, but he hasn't necessarily received the chances to. He has a passer rating of 76.8 and has only committed one turnover on a fumbled snap. The Vikings acquired another possible backup quarterback on Monday in Kelly Holcomb, pushing Jackson to perform with even greater precision. With Brooks Bollinger struggling in the preseason, Holcomb could very well be next in line behind Jackson.
