Giants win the Super Bowl
By Vikings Fan | Posted Tuesday, February 5
The New York Giants won Super Bowl XLII in Phoenix on Sunday in what is being called one of the greatest upsets in NFL history. The Giants beat the New England Patriots by a score of 17-14 in front of a record 97.5 million United States TV viewers.
Had the Patriots won the game, they would have completed a perfect season, the first since the 1972 Miami Dolphins, and the only one since the league expanded to a 16-game regular season in 1978. The Patriots were 12 point favorites at kick-off, but it was a battle of the defenses that no one expected.
It seemed strange to many Minnesota Vikings fans that the New York Giants were in the playoffs and we weren't because Minnesota beat the New York Giants during the regular season 41-17 at the Meadowlands. It just goes to show strong play at the end of the season really does pay off in the NFL.
