Jared Allen For President

By Vikings Tickets Staff Writer R. Murray

Jared Allen for President:

With all these election ads on TV, and voting day coming up on Nov. 6th, the staff over at Vikings Tickets thinks we should start a push for Jared Allen for President.

Look how patriotic Jared Allen, Vikings #69, looks!

Vikings Jared Allen Facts:

Early Years of Jared Allen:

Your favorite defesnman on the Minnesota Vikings was born April 3rd, 1982 in Dallas, Texas, but was raised in San Jose, California. Bet you didn't know that his father, Ron, was one on the training camp roster of the Minnesota Vikings and played in the United States Football League.

High school years of Jared Allen:

Jared Allen went to high school at Los Gatos High School were he was a one-year letter winner AND at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, California. When Jared Allen was a senior, he was names First-Team All League and Defensive Player of the year. During Jared Allen's senior season, he racked up 96 tackles, 12 sacks, five forces fumbles, and five fumble recoveries.

This was Jared Allen in High School at Los Gatos.

College years of Jared Allen:

Jared Allen has a career at Idaho State where he stared 33 of 41 games. He finished his career with 250 tackles, 38.5 sacks, 73 stops for losses, seven fumble recoveries, three touchdowns, 13 forced fumbles, three interceptions, 26 pass deflections, and one blocked kick. In 2003, when Jared Allen was a senior in college, he won the Buck Buchanan Award.

Professional Career of Jared Allen:

Jared Allen was drafted by the Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft and he made the league minimum his first three years. Here's a fun fact: Jared Allen credited his early 2007 season success to his MULLET. What? Well, with every quarterback sack Allen made, he was expected to shave a "racing stripe" into his hairstyle.

On April 22nd 2008, the Chiefs traded Allen to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a first-round pick. The Vikings signed Allen to a 6 year contract, which at the time was the richest contract for a defensive player in NFL history!

Jared Allen Personal Life:

We already know that despite his arrests and charges for three DUI's, Jared Allen has been a great public advocate. Many Vikings fans do not know that he raises funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation thtough his "Sack Diabetes" program. He was also among four NFL players that were send overseas on a NFL-USO tour to visit with U.S. military troops.

To add to the list, Jared Allen also created his own charity, the Jared Allen's Homes 4 Wounded Warriors, in order to build handicapped-accessible homes for severely wounded military personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe this is because his grandfather and younger brother served in the Marines? What could be more American then that?

Jared Allen is currently living in Chanhassen, MN and in October of 2011 Jared Allen and his wife Amy welcomed a new baby girl to the family.
