Minnesota Vikings $1.1 billion Stadium Plan
By Vikings Tickets
The Minnesota Vikings football team, after a long race to get a new stadium, appears to have a new hope that takes the shape of a $1.1 billion site in Arden Hills.
The Minnesota Vikings are moving forward with a $1.1 billion proposal which would place a new Vikings stadium in Arden Hills, Minnesota - a suburb located about 10 miles northeast of Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Arden Hills is located in Ramsey County and the current partnership, announced May 10, came a day after Minneapolis proposed a plan to keep the Vikings at the Metrodome site.
The Minnesota Vikings appear to have little to no interest in playing at the Minneapolis location. The team would only extend its lease at the Metrodome past this season if a stadium deal is in place.
The proposed 65,000-seat stadium would be located on the abandoned ammunitions plant in suburban Arden hills and would include a retractable roof. The site, however, does require intense road upgrades and transportation improvements tallying about $131 million, according to MNDoT.
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has repeatedly stressed the state would contribute no more than $300 million to the stadium.
