Minnesota Vikings Stop Philadelphia Eagles and Michael Vick

By Vikings Tickets

The Minnesota Vikings prevented any miracle finish planned by the Philadelphia Eagles and quarterback Michael Vick. Michael Vick went 5-for-16 with an interception on passes that traveled at least 10 yards in the air. Lucky for Minnesota, DeSean Jackson of the Eagles had only two completed passes thrown to him for a total of 32 yards. Jackson had been overthrown and underthrown twice, and managed to drop one pass as well.

The Minnesota Vikings managed to keep Vick bottled up by a strong blitz from the secondary. Minnesota used a defensive back or safety as a blitzer 16 times and had 4 sacks. In contrast to Vick, Joe Webb of the Minnesota Vikings earned his first NFL win in an efficient manner. He was 10-for-13 for 84 yards.

Webb was helped by running back Adrian Peterson. He averaged nearly 8 yards per carry against that line. These 8 yards are an increase from the 4.5 yards he had averaged before that.

Prior to Tuesday, the Eagles had won five straight and eight of their past nine games against the Vikings. The last time the Vikings won a road game in Philadelphia was December 1, 1985. Joe Webb was born on November 13, 1986, almost a year later.
