Vikings add one receiver, drop another
By VikingsTickets.com | Posted Thursday, June 14
The Minnesota Vikings signed former University of Minnesota wide receiver Paris Hamilton on June 13 as part of their effort to augment the receiving corps. Free agent wide receiver Randy Hymes wasn't working out for the Vikings, so they cut him to make room for Hamilton.
Hamilton's NFL career has been in limbo the last couple of seasons as he was not able to make the Detroit Lions squad last season and made only the practice squad for the Lions in 2005. Part of Hamilton's problems have been injury-related, as he blew out his left knee and missed his entire junior season at the U of M. He did come back his senior season on a surgically repaired knee, catching four balls for 198 yards and two touchdowns in 2004. The Vikings hope Hamilton can show the spark that he displayed when he came to the Gophers from Tyler Junior College in 2003.
