Vikings beat Atlanta Falcons
By Vikings Tickets | Posted Wednesday, September 12
The Minnesota Vikings beat the Atlanta Falcons in the season opener at the Metrodome Minneapolis on Sunday. The Vikings defense looked amazing and the offense was able to hold its own to easily beat the Falcons 24-3. Rookie Vikings running back Adrian Peterson held the audiences attention from start to finish. In the first quarter, Peterson started on the field as the deep returnman on opening kickoff. In the fourth quarter, Peterson erupted with 7:19 remaining in the game. Peterson took a swing pass from quarterback Tarvaris Jackson 60 yards for his first NFL score.
The Vikings defense was led by defensive tackle Kevin Williams who recorded an interception in the first quarter and ran 54 yards for a touchdown. The fans in the Metrodome did a nice job on defense as well. On two occasions in the 2nd quarter Falcons quarterback Joey Harrington tried to audible at the line but was forced to burn a time out due to the crowd noise level. Way to go Vikings fans! Next up is a road trip to Detroit to play the Lions. Let's hope the Vikings can keep the positive momentum and beat our division rival.
