Vikings eyeing another former Packer
By VikingsTickets.com | Posted Monday, August 20
The Green Bay Packers released veteran wide receiver Robert Ferguson last week, perking the interests of the Minnesota Vikings. Ferguson worked out for the Vikings on Sunday afternoon at Winter Park. He could become another in a line of ex-Packer players who crossed the border to the Vikings including Darren Sharper and Ryan Longwell. Sharper is actually a huge proponent of a reunion with Ferguson. "He's been in the fire," Sharper said in a Pioneer Press article. "Knows the offense. And he brings that experience. And he makes plays in this league."
Although the Viking's roster is full of receiver hopefuls, the aspect of signing Ferguson is appealing to the Vikings because the club needs greater experience at the position. Ferguson is a solid receiver, but he has had sever injury problems in his career. Ferguson hasn't played a whole season since the 2002 campaign. Right now, however, it appears the Vikings have nothing to lose if they can sign Ferguson at bargain basement price.
